BPT is known on the Polish market as a supplier of advanced videophone system technology for both single-family homes and complex multi apartment building systems.
BPT is intensively developing intelligent home (Domotica / HomeSapiens) automation technology and the first solutions were presented during its 50th anniversary at the trade fairs in Milan in 2003.
Bpt offers two product lines: the Hoasis Plus system,
which is the basic tool for implementing most of the functions of home automation and the Nehos system designed to integrate various installations including: Hoasis,
videophones,
telecommunications (telephone,www,
e-mail),
security (alarm system,
CCTV) and audio-video systems.
This article presents the most important features and typical uses of the Hoasis Plus system.
Hoasis Plus system
Hoasis Plus is designed primarily for use in residential buildings such as houses,
villas,
apartments or penthouses.
It can also be used in small premises of commercial nature,
such as offices,
conference rooms,
swimming pools,
etc.
The Hoasis Plus system replaces traditional electrical installations with digital control with dispersed logic,
and meets the standards of the European EIB,
although it differs from it when it comes to network layers,
communication protocol or way of programming.

Hoasis is based on the LonWorks network and the Lon Talk communication protocol,
which the company uses in the BPT 300 videophone Series.
Hoasis’ undoubted advantage is the ability to integrate with the BPT X2 videophone system.
With help from the Mitho receiver,
which functions as a traditional videophone receiver can furthermore serve as a control console for the Hoasis system and Brahms BPT alarm system.

The Hoasis Plus system which operates intelligent homes allows to:
- regulate temperature zones (heating and cooling) by automatic schedules and manual input,
- Control lighting in a smooth or two-stage manner,
also via scenarios and time schedules
- open and close blinds,
shutters,
skylights,
gas and water valves,
- automatically water plants and greenery,
- optimize energy consumption in times of high demand
- Handle emergency situations

The primary interface for the user of the Hoasis system is the wall mounted OH / T terminal with a monochrome,
illuminated 4 inch touch screen.
The system can use up to 3 OH / T terminals,
and each of them gives you full access to the control functions of Hoasis.

The Hoasis system requires an OH / A module,
which supplies power to other devices and is responsible for carrying out certain functions,
such as the timer.
Instead of using multi-functional OH / T terminals to control zone temperatures digital OH / Z thermostats with LCD display can be used.

All modules in the Hoasis system are connected to a bus using a double wire,
unshielded non polarized twisted pair,
with a total length of up to 500 m.
The basic configuration with manual programming allows you to connect with 64 transmitters and 71 inputs for controlling and defining 16 timers and 3 scenarios.
When programming using a PC and specialized software the system flexibility and possibilities increase significantly reaching up to 255 inputs,
255 transmitters,
20 independent heating zones (OH/Z-controlled modules or OH / T terminals),
40 timers and 16 scenarios.
The system NEHOS
Nehos is a higher level of functionality,
which integrates control and support for most electrical and electronic installations and utilities at home.

Nehos exercise all the functions of the Hoasis system,
because Hoasis becomes one of the many integrated systems by Nehos.
The difference in handling both systems is that the OH / T terminals are replaced by the Nehos NH-T multi-functional touch screen terminal.

In addition to the control functions carried out in the Hoasis system,
the Nehos NH-T terminal can use its 8.4-inch color touch screen to:
- Preview images from CCTV cameras,
- operate the Brahms BPT emergency system,
- browse the internet,
- view and write e-mails
- Watch television,
- Play video (eg DVD)
- Use the phone (both stationary and based on VOIP technology).

An additional advantage is the ability to integrate with the home phones,
videophones and intercom using X2 / 300 technology from BPT.
Nehos in its simplest configuration can be regarded as an upgraded Hoasis system,
in which the OH / T terminals and the OH / A power supply,
are replaced by NH-T terminals (max 7) combined with the central NH-BC unit using an Ethernet network.
With standard Ethernet we get great flexibility when it comes to choosing the location of the terminal,
as well as the possibility of emulating (virtualization) the terminal by using popular web browsers (Microsoft Internet Explorer,
Mozilla Firefox) on any PC to control all the functions of Nehos.
It is also possible to connect to the Nehos network outside the home (eg,
office,
hotel) through a router or a VPN channel and control all the functions including the previewing the CCTV cameras.
In addition to standard wire connection from the NH-T terminal to the BC-NH central processing unit,
Nehos offers wireless Wi-Fi technology which allows full access to the terminal from any location in the house.
Hoasis system Equipment
The Hoasis system apart from the basic elements mentioned earlier (OH / T,
OH / A and OH / T),
uses various entry and exit modules.
“Entry modules” is understood as any contact device,
such as sensors,
buttons,
and switches.
The BPT entry and exit modules offered (see table below) are designed so that they fit the typical functions of the controlling installations,
while ensuring full use of all ports.
The Entry and exit Modules can be installed in electrical boxes on DIN rails or under electrical circuit breaker boxes due to their small size.
In addition to the standard relays BPT offers relays with increased contact loads,
NH-DIM module for smooth control of lighting intensity and a dedicated OH-MA module designed to operate blinds,
shutters,
windows or gates.
| Module | Function | Number of outputs | Number of inputs | | OH/R.01 | | 4 (NC/NO) | 4 | | OH/6I | | 0 | 6 | | OH/RI | | 1 (NO) | 3 | | OH/RP | | 1 (NO) | | | OH/2RP | | 2 (NO) | | | OH/3RPI | | 3 (NO) | 3 | | OH/MA | shutter control | 2 (UP,
DOWN),
1 NC/NO | 3 (UP,

Hoasis System Applications
Imagine that after entering the house and pressing one button we activate all the needed equipment: lights,
adjustable blinds and set the appropriate temperature in the room.
Similarly,
when we leave home,
one button turns off lights,
heating or cooling,
depending on the time of the year we set the standard maintaining temperature,
close water and gas valves,
and turn on the alarm system.
Garden watering is run on selected days of the week designated by us,
and the blinds close in case of storms or strong wind.
All this is possible thanks to the Hoasis Plus automation system.
The primary control mechanisms are functional scenarios.
These are defined sequences of operations,
which can activate / deactivate chosen departure,
control blinds,
change the mode of heating / air-conditioning in chosen zones.
An example might be the “exit” scenario,
which turns off all the lights in the house,
closes blinds and switches off all the heating zones.
Another example would be the “night” scenario,
which turns off unnecessary lights,
closes the shutters and gates,
closes the gas valves and water and activates the night alarm system.
Scenarios can be run from OH / T terminals,
from regular buttons mounted in different places in the house and thanks to timers.
In addition to choosing inputs for various exits,
Hoasis gives the opportunity to choose the appropriate function,
namely how to achieve this control function (enable,
disable,
switch,
directly,
impulsively,
permition).
A set of these simple steps,
made in order for all entries and exits allows for a complete system set up.
Remote surveillance over the house
The GSM module available in the Hoasis system,
operated by a standard mobile phone by sending SMS messages,
allows you to check the status of the automation system at request or by status reports every 12 or 24 hours,
and notifies about all important events at home,
such as alarms or system failures.
In addition,
the module provides the opportunity to start scenarios remotely,
to operate thermostat settings,
to check the temperature and the status of the temperature control in all areas of the house.

Summary
Using the Hoasis system offers convenience,
flexibility and the speeding up of multiple installations at home,
and furthermore cost savings in energy and utility consumption.
Automating control activities by using scenarios increases the safety and protection of the house against various threats and eliminates the chance of forgetting anything.
The possibility of changes in programming,
functions and scenarios allows for customizing the individual needs of tenants without having to modify the wire installation,
often impossible in traditional solutions.
The Hoasis system is a far-reaching tool,
which allows achieving most of the features that control "smart homes",
and opens the way for implementing a more sophisticated integrating system… the Nehos system.
The new BPT Mitho videophone receiver with a color touch-screen LCD,
which also functions as an interface for managing the Hoasis automatic home system and Brahms alarm system will be a natural bridge and link between BPT solutions in the field of videophones with the world of smart home automation.
